Timothy S. Hopkins
Chef and Owner
From an early age, Tim easily found his way around his family's kitchen in Chicago. He discovered that combining ordinary ingredients could produce extraordinary results - soups and casseroles and creme brulees that utterly wowed his family and friends. A magical world of culinary tastes and textures was revealed to him.
He particularly loved the social aspects of cooking, how wonderful meals brought people together and made them laugh. His career as a White Sox player thus was vanquished from his mind. In its place: professional chef.
Tim remained true to his calling. For more than 25 years, he honed his culinary skills at many prestigious restaurants and clubs. He worked at several Nantucket restaurants, including the Jared Coffin House, Straight Warf and The Sea Grill. On the North Shore, he served as chef at Myopia Hunt Club and executive chef and general manager of the Singing Beach Club in Manchester-by-the-Sea.
In 2003, in partnership with Paul ten Hope, Tim harnessed his creativity and life-long passion for food to form Tim Hopkins Catering. Word of the company's dedication and proficiency quickly spread; before long, it was known as the premier catering operation on the North Shore. When Tim isn't working his magic in the kitchen, he likes to hit the links and spend time with his three children and wife, Christiane.
Paul Ten Hope
Paul is our Operations Manager but he has worn "many hats" since we started TSH Catering.
He began his career 35 years ago in his family's restaurant as a dishwasher but very quickly segued into management positions at restaurants and clubs. He grasps the ebb and flow of operations, the details, what people need. He can anticipate what should happen next. His standards are exact.
Bar glasses must be arranged with precision. Phone calls must be returned on time. In short, things must run like a perfectly tuned Swiss watch.
Fortunately for us, the right side of Paul's brain, the creative engine, is also very much alive. He is a first-rate planner, always conjuring up innovative ideas and suggestions to make parties more wonderful.
In the 1990's, Paul served as clubhouse manager at prestigious clubs in New York and Colorado. Prior to joining Tim Hopkins Catering in 2003, he was assistant general manager of the Singing Beach Club in Manchester-by-the-Sea. When Paul isn't overseeing matters at Tim Hopkins Catering, he likes to cruise Cape Ann by mountain bike, play golf, and ski in Vermont with his three children.
Tim first met Dave when he was sitting at the bar at Ithaki Restaurant, on a rare night out for dinner. The martinis were great and Tim was too hungry to decide what he wanted to eat.
Dave, the Executive Chef, who was working the line with a clear view of the bar, saw Tim needed some help, so he sign languaged first with floppy hands for "fish" and then flat hands for "meat". Tim signed back with floppy hands and the rest is history. Dave sent out several fish delicacies and instantly won Tim over with his creative and beautifully presented food, and sense of humor!
Dave, who hails from upstate New York, has extensive experience in the restaurant and food industries, including positions as a Team Leader with Whole Foods, a Sous Chef at both Cafe Celador and Ambrosia on Huntington, and a Baker at Bettonwood Bakery in Newton. He joined our Team in 2011 and has played a key leadership role in our success.
When Dave is off, he likes to spend time at home with his wife Kristin, his two children and his dogs. He is known to enjoy a mai tai or two, of his own special concoction, while watching his beloved Bruins!
owner and Marketing Manager
Tim first saw Chris on t.v. singing on a March of Dimes telethon on Nantucket. He thought to himself, "This is the girl I want to marry. She's skinny, and I know I can feed her!" Well, they soon met at a party, fell madly in love, and he has been cooking for her ever since!
Chris, who studied for her masters at New England Conservatory of Music, pursued a professional singing career for a while with some success, but in between gigs, found her niche in the business world.
She worked for Copyright Clearance Center in Danvers in office administration and sales for 8 years. After she left CCC, Chris served as the "support staff" for the catering business in its fledgling years, as administrative assistant, book keeper and office sales.
Music still remains her passion, and will now sing whenever she's asked. She loves to travel with Tim in the off season to places where they can, ski, fish, golf, play tennis and of course, enjoy good food!
Catering Sales and event Manager
Amber, Tim & Paul go way back to the Singing Beach Club days. Amber was an Assistant Manager there, and when Tim and Paul left to start TSH Catering, Amber was promoted to General Manager.
She has since worked for Myopia Hunt Club, as Club Manager and has recently come back to work with the guys again! They couldn't be happier!
Amber is one of the most experienced event professionals on the north shore. She has planned and managed hundreds of successful events and is already very familiar with our food, clientele, venues, and vendors.
When she is not at TSH, she is busy raising and driving her 15-year-old twins, Ava and Aubrey, and her son, Max 12, with her husband Marc. Amber loves music, travel, and the outdoors, especially boating and paddleboarding here on the Essex River.
She balances it all with style and grace. We are lucky to have her back on our Team!
Event Planner and Event Manager
Sarah has worked for us in many capacities over the years as a server, bartender and even as the manager of our ice cream store The Salem Screamery!
We always like to promote from within and we knew Sarah had the experience and love of our business to join our Sales Team in 2018. Her clients appreciate her extensive knowledge of our food and service, and she is now one of our most popular planners.
When she is not working for us, she takes care of her three kids, Timothy, Anna and Leo. She recently took her entire family to Africa to visit her parents who are missionaries there and to go on safari! And, as a former varsity collegiate athlete at Gordon College, she still even manages to squeeze in a workout!

"Anna Banana" is originally from Gdynia, Poland, where she learned various valuable skills that are useful in the kitchen including singing and dancing to Polish Christmas Carols in her native language and making the most delicious pirogies.
Her positive attitude and strong work ethic is contagious and she sets the bar high for our seasonal kitchen staff. Anna, her husband Lolo and their adorable little daughter, Amelia, a.k.a. "Bananania" have a beautiful home in Gloucester.
When she is not keeping house or cooking for us, she goes to Beyonce concerts, whom she has seen 5 times!!!
Jack of all trades
Sam is our event manager, chief packer, lighting and music specialist, wall builder, dish dogger, motivational speaker and dancer, and occasional chauffeur.
No matter what the problem is, his first priority is to solve it which he does with great enthusiasm and skill.
When he's not working he loves to go backcountry snowmobiling in Rangely, Maine. HMS Events is Sam's own lighting and music company, which he runs on the side.
Sam comes from a very musical family and plays the piano, accordion, and drums. He's currently learning saxophone, by watching YouTube videos!
Everyone loves Sam, and his identical twin, Matt who have entertained (and confused) our clients for years!

Greg has been with us coming on three years now! Through crazy wedding seasons and pandemic pivots, he's been a valuable member of our Team.
Originally hailing from New Jersey, he attended UMass Amherst and worked for ezcater and Fireside Catering before he joined us.
Greg has a green thumb and carefully tends to our kitchen plants. When he's not working, he enjoys vacationing with his family, surf fishing, skiing, and making spicy Korean and Indian dishes at home in his Instant Pot!
